The November CFAS meeting will feature the presentation “William Bartram: Florida Archaeologist” by Dr. Brent Weisman, professor and chair of the Department of Anthropology at the University of South Florida. Dr. Weisman has been active in Florida archaeology for many years and his presentation will focus on what archaeologists can learn from William Bartram’s accounts of his travels through central Florida in the late 18th century.

The meeting starts at 7:00pm and is free and open to the public.

“Beneath the Surface: Exploring Florida’s Ancient Pond Cemeteries”

The October CFAS presentation will be by Dr. Rachel Wentz. Dr. Wentz received her PhD from Florida State University where her master’s and doctoral theses examined the skeletal population of the Windover site in Titusville. She has taught courses in physical anthropology, human osteology, and forensic anthropology. Dr. Wentz is currently the director of the Florida Public Archaeology Network’s East Central Region. The meeting starts at 7:00pm and is free and open to the public.
